How to Start Your Price Test?

In this guide, we'll walk you through the steps to initiate a price test for your product. You'll learn how to create a price test, customize your pricing, and set up the test parameters to ensure accurate results.

Our price test is conducted by duplicating a set of existing products and changing the desired price to execute the test. The products generated from the test will be referred to as “variant group" in this document. “Variant products” refer to those in Shopify that include different sizes or colors within the same product.

Step 1: Click the "Create" Button on Our Home Page

Begin by navigating to our home page. Locate the "Create a Price Test" card and click the "Create" button to start setting up your test.

Step 2: Write Your Test Title

Next, enter a title for your price test. This title will help you identify and manage your tests.

Step 3: Configure Statistical Settings

In the A/B Testing Configuration section, choose between Automatic or Manual settings to adjust the required sample size for the test.

Configure Statistical Settings

  • Automatic Setting: By default, the Baseline Conversion Rate is set to 1.5%, and the Minimum Detectable Effect to 1%, based on typical e-commerce benchmarks. The Statistical Power is set to 80%, with a Significance Level of 5%.
  • Manual Setting: Alternatively, you can manually configure these settings to match your specific testing needs.

Step 4: Select Your Test Product

Choose the product you want to test.

Note: Once saved, the product selection cannot be changed. If you need to test a different product, a new test must be created.

Step 5: Customize Your Desired Price for Variant Group

If the selected product has variants (e.g., different sizes or colors), you can customize the pricing for each variant in the variant group.

Use the AutoFill function to automatically adjust the test prices by either a fixed amount or percentage relative to the original price.

Step 6: Config for Status Card

To make variant group visible in your store, locate the Status card and click Active. If Active is not selected, the variant group will remain in Draft mode.

The Auto Extend option can automatically extend the test period if insufficient data has been collected by the scheduled end date. We recommend enabling this feature to avoid invalid test results.

Step 7: Set Your Test Period

Define the duration of your test. We recommend running the test over a complete period, such as a week or a month. Remember, the end of the test period does not necessarily mean the test is complete; sufficient data is required to calculate the final result.

Step 8: Split the Traffic

Adjust the traffic distribution by dragging the ratio bar. Moving it to the right increases the number of customers sent to the variant group.

Your price test setup is complete. Click the “Save“ button, and you’re good to go! You can return to update your test settings before your test begins. Thank you for using our service! If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at our support email.
